Aims. The comparison of personality traits changes and main symptoms changes in patients younger and older then 30 years during intensive, complex, integrative psychotherapy. The comparison of the 16 PF of R.B. Cattell and the KON-2006 as diagnostic and therapeutic change tools. Methods. Three self-descriptive measures: the 16 PF of R.B. Cattell, the Neurotic Personality Questionnaire KON-2006 and the Symptom Checklist O were used in the study. A number of 100 patients, both sexes, aged 20 to 58, performed psychological tests before and after psychotherapy. Changes in neurotic personality index and global symptoms level as well as changes in personality traits were compared between younger and older patients and between women and men. Results. Before the treatment there were no significant differences (p>0.05) between younger and older patients as to the neurotic personality index either in the 16 PF of R.B. Cattell (WDN) or in the KON-2006 (X-KON). Those two groups did not differ significantly as for the initial mean value of the global symptoms level. Older patients were more submissive and irrational before therapy than younger ones (p<0.05) and more frequently achieved significant decrease in global symptoms level after therapy (p<0.03). There were no differences between older and younger groups in changes of the neurotic personality index either in the 16 PF of R.B. Cattell or in the KON-2006 after treatment. Mean value of the neurotic personality index in the 16 PF of R.B. Cattell was twice as high in women as in men before treatment (p<0.001). Women achieved significant a decrease of the neurotic personality index (p<0.05) more frequently. These differences probably result from the lack of the 16 PF of R.B. Cattell's standardization for sexes. There were no significant differences in the pretherapy value of the neurotic personality index of the KON-2006 and in changes of it after treatment between women and men (p>0.05). Women and men differed significantly as for changes in many personality traits. Conclusions. Change of personality traits in psychotherapy doesn't seem to depend on patients' age. A significant decrease in global symptoms level is more frequent in older patients. The KON-2006 seems to be more suitable for psychotherapy effectiveness research than the 16 PF of R.B. Cattell.
